If you are looking for me on a tuesday night, head to town center and you'll find me at the ice rink along with the rest of the population of Big Sky.
Every tuesday night, locals gather at the outdoor rink to participate
or stand and watch the beautiful game of broom ball unfold.
Let me tell you, I felt like a true local.
For those of you who don't know what broom ball is, let me explain...
Basically, it is ice hockey, however, you're wearing street shoes instead of skates and you use a stick with a small plastic head on the end. The ball is a round orange ball filled with air.
Nothing too fancy.
I had played broom ball once in high school with some church friends and it was fun!
When we played though, it was at an inside and it was very mellow.
Things are a little different in Big Sky.
Here, the game is played extremely seriously.
You give it everything you got and you better as hell fight to the death.

There is a league that is put together by one of the willing locals and he organizes the teams and game schedule. Games start at 6:45pm on tuesday and the last match starts at 9:45pm.
It's seriously the perfect way to spend a tuesday night.
I didn't play that night because:
1. I'm not on a team.
2. I am way to much of a sissy to get rough like that.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching though!
I have met a substantial amount of people here and saw a ton of familiar faces that night.
I even got to cheer on some of those friends and coworkers as they slid and skidded across the ice in their broom ball matches.
Around 8pm the snow started coming down which made for a chilly night,
but that's what hot tubs after the matches are for!
